DUSK, Ilocos Sur.
It had been a gruelling day of travel. Having reached our destination an hour ahead of schedule, I had time to look around, and try to see what else was happening in the area. The locals, as anywhere else in the world, were milling around; perhaps trying to ponder what exactly it was that we were so interested in. Sunsets, especially to locals so used to seeing it everyday, is something we take for granted. Until someone new comes in, and starts gawking at the view. And only then do we turn our heads and watch it in awe, just like the first time we did.

MOONRISE, in San Juan.
And this was my daily view. The view that I take for granted everyday, until people came to photograph it from my balcony. Then and only then did I again marvel at the beauty that I see everyday. We who live in the sprawling urban jungle mostly dream about the view from our future retirement house on the beach, along with the sound of the waves splashing on its shore. And everyone else who does not live in the city will dream of views such as these. We all seem to think that life, just like the view, will always be nicer from someone else's dream home. Sometimes all it takes is someone else to tell you how good you have it.
Thunder storm and light show.
Not exactly a daily occurrence in my side of the world, but something I have long wanted to capture. Digital photography lends itself to these kinds of shots, as you will never know when one is about to strike. I got lucky with this one, as it was one of the biggest and most magnificent that evening. And like I said at the home page, luck favors those who are ready and able to anticipate the fleeting images that appear out of nowhere.
